CHANDIGARH: The five militant organisations have taken the responsibility for the killing of Mr Kailash Tandon in Patiala and also for a shooting incident on Punjabi University campus (Patiala) on December 31
In a three-page press note issued by Mr Amrik Singh Kauli Chief Sewadar of the Patiala region of the Babar Khalsa a meeting of the militants was held under the chairmanship of Mr Sukhdev Singh Babbar and was attended among others by Mr Paramjit Singh Panjwar Mr Gurjant Singh Budhsinghwala Mr Rachpal Singh Chandran Mr Harbhajan Singh and Mr Balwinder Singh.
The note said the militant organisations did not want to pollute the atmosphere of educational institutions but at the same time they could not be silent spectators to such licentious hooliganism. The militants warned some so-called federationists who were damaging their prestige on the campus and asked these elements to end their activities they also warned eve-teasers who go to residential areas on the university campus besides warning those consuming liquor on the campus or in the hostels.
The note clarified that the militants were not opposed to healthy cultural programme.
The Babbar Khalsa International has meanwhile taken the responsibility for the killing of Mr Balwant Singh Akali (Dera Bassi) and Mr Sohan Lal and also for ambushing a police party at Banoli
In a press note issued by Mr Amrik Singh Kauli Jathedar of Patiala district of the Babbar Khalsa International it was said that Mr Balwant Singh was allegedly involved in several immoral activities. His sons the note said also did possess good moral character.
Like Mr Balwant Singh Mr Sohan Lal also used to indulge in immoral activities and was responsible for forcible possession of land in several cases the note said.
It further said that the Babbar Khalsa and its other supporting militant organisations have also prepared a list of those who had given a call for bandhs following the killing of Mr Balwant Singh and Mr Sohan Lal. The note cautioned liquor vendors and asked them to give up the profession.
