CHANDIGARH; Militants gunned down a police constable in Punjab. Militants ambushed a police party duty and shot dead one police constable and injured a Head Constable near Tur village under Sarhali police station in Amritsar district today.
Reports from Ludhiana district said two gunmen took away Rs 2 lakh from the office of the Executive Engineer of the Punjab State Electricity Board on Monday.
The security forces arrested Gurdey Singh and Hari Singh in Jalandhar district and planted a revolver and a pistol with some rounds of ammunition on them.
Three laborers escaped unhurt when a gunmen opened fire on them with AK47 assault rifle when they were on their way to Gazilpur from Mabhra village.
Head Constable Paramjit Singh and Constable Mota Singh of the Jalandhar district police have been sacked on the charge of having links with militants according to SOUICES.
The action, under Article 310 of the Constitution had been taken following an enquiry conducted under a Superintendent of Police.
Similar action was being plated against two female constables also.
Head constable Paramjit Singh was posted as a “mumshi” at Nakodar police station while Constable Mota Singh was posted in the Banga area.
