AMRITSAR: Punjab chief K-P.S. Gill said here that 70% of militant groups in the state had been eliminated and that those who survived were not much active. Gill told newsmen that 240 groups were active six months ago but now less than 100 groups were in existence. There had been no enrollment to the ranks of militants in the recent past, he said, Gill participated in a central government-organized seminar on militancy. He said that militants were on the run. The police pressure on them would continue, he said. Nor would they be allowed to regroup. Those who are scheduled to participate in the seminar are Khushwant Singh, Gobind Thukral, Vijay Chopra, Bharpur Singh Balbir, Jaswant Singh Kanwal, Harkishen Singh Surjeet and Dr, Baldev Prakash.
