NEW DELHI, India: The all India convention of “militant” trade unions has resolved to
stage “Rasta Roko and Jail Bharo” on April 21 to press for their demands which include neutralization of price rises and recognition of the right to work as a fundamental right.
The today convention which ended in Bombay, was organized by eight trade unions including Mazdoor Kisan Panchayet.
The convention also resolved to obtain one crore signatures on a petition to Parliament listing its demands and to organize “Bandhs” throughout India.
The convention was addressed among others by prom sent opposition leaders Mr. George Fernandes and Mr. Sharad Joshi.
Mr. Joshi said that during the past five years, six lakh workers had lost their jobs in the private sector in India while the government had recruited five lakh policemen to suppress workers.
