SRINAGAR: Army and paramilitary forces arrested 72 suspected subversives, including the chief of a militant outfit, while four persons were killed and six others were injured in escalated violence in Kashmir Valley recently.

Curfew restrictions in the border town of Baramulla continued for the second successive day, an official spokesman told reporters.

Gazi Aliyas, chief commander of Allah Tigers was nabbed by the security forces in Baramulla, a spokesman of the outfit said.

Without confirming or denying the claim, an official spokesman said six Pak-trained militants were apprehended near Aloosa Bandipora in Baramulla district after militants attacked a security search party in the town,

Two security men sustained injuries as a result of militants’ attack. The attack came after the security forces had conducted search operations of Kanibut Bandipora in Baramulla district. Other arrests were made from Srinagar, Baramulla Kupwara and Pulwama, the spokesman said.

Army help was sought at 11 places to flush out militants, while elsewhere an inspector of the Central Industrial Security Forces (CISF) was among four persons killed.

The CISF inspector was killed and three others injured when the vehicle which they were travelling, was blown up by a landmine near Channpora here.

Militants shot dead three persons, identified as Pahalvan Shah, Hassan Shah and Akhta Shah, at Danipora village in Kupwara district they had been kidnapped by some unidentified militants three days ago.

The authorities’ recently relaxed curfew for six hours in Doda town of Jammu region as no unforward incident was reported from any part of the township.

An official spokesman said that six-hour curfew relaxation in the town was given.
