PUNE(PTI): OnSept4 mild tremors were experienced in Goa and several parts of Maharashtra, including Pune, Kolhapur and Ratnagiri.
The epicenter of the tremor was 140 km from Pune, meteorological department here said. The data on magnitude of the quake was not immediately available with the observatory.
Meanwhile, a report from Kolhapur said tremors of mild intensity were experienced thrice in almost all parts of the district Carly on Saturday.
A mild tremor measuring 3.2 on Richter scale was first felt at 0350 hrs (IST), having its nucleus 20 kms away from Koyna Dam, which was nearly destroyed in a quake in the 60’s,
The second tremor, measuring four on Richter scale, was felt in the city at 0431 hrs with its focal point 24 kms from the dam sight.
Vibrations of mild intensity were again experienced at 0623 hrs measuring 4.1 on Richter scale, the report said adding that earthquakes of mild intensity were also experienced at the same time in Sangli, Satara, Karad, Ratnagiri, Patan, Chiplun and Dhebewadi.
A report from Panaji, the capital of Goa, said the tremors were also experienced in the uny State coinciding with the ones that were felt in neighboring Maharashtra.
However, there were no immediate reports of loss of life or damage to property from anywhere, preliminary reports said.
