MULTAN: Javed Miandad, who led Pakistan to a clean sweep in recent Test and one-day games against New Zealand, has reacted angrily to allegations from New Zealand that balls were tampered with during the series.
Kiwi manager Ian Taylor was quoted as saying that Pakistan pace bowlers Wagar Younis, who took 29 wickets in the three Test matches, and Wasim Akram defaced the balls to make them swing more.
These allegations are rubbish. How can a team and his manager have the temerity to label such allegations when they have been beaten and outplayed completely,” said Miandad.
The allegations were made when the New Zealand squad arrived back home a few days ago after their six-week tour of Pakis- tan.
Taylor was quoted as saying: “The Pakistani bowlers mutilated one side of the ball and this made the ball swing about quite alarmingly.
