NEW DELHI: The two day medical and physical fitness tests for the England bound Indian cricketers concluded at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in the Indian capital Wednesday.
The tests, first of their kind conducted ‘on cricketers in the country, were held for over 12 hours Tuesday and nearly half that time Wednesday on the team, including the stand byes selected for the England tour,
Bipin Bhalla, of the Human performance laboratory at the sports authority of India’s medical Centre at the Nehru stadium, said Wednesday the reports of each player would be given to cricket manager Bishen Singh Bedi for the latter’s perusal.
He said the players were put through physiological, psychological, personality tests and relaxation by his team.
The tests were held to measure the player’s endurance, speed, strength, concentration, reaction time, competitive anxiety to, Bhalla said.
Based on the readings, Bhall said, he would suggest ways and means to improve the performance of the players during the two week camp, slated to begin at Bangalore on June one.
