NEW DELHI: General elections are to be held in India between May 19 and May 26 but an announcement by the election commission will only be made sometime after April 10.
Sources said it was customary to announce the election dates just a week before the issue of notifications and hence its announcement could only be made in April.
This explanation was given by the election commission when various political parties approached it to find out the delay in announcement of elections dates the sources said
