BERNE, Reuter: Deposed Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos may have assets worth more than 10 billion dollars scattered throughout the world, a senior Philippine official said.

Jovito Salonga, Chairman of the Presidential Commission on the good government, which is trying to recover Marco’s wealth, said experts in the United States had estimated the fortune at between five and 10 billion dollars but the figure could be higher.

Switzerland froze Marcos assets here in March, the month after he was deposed.

Salonga told reporters he had full confidence in Swiss law and what he called the sense of fairness and justice of Swiss officials, whose help the Philippine government is seeking in tracing the ‘deposed President’s wealth.
