TALWANDI: The Akal Dal (Mann) would approach the United Nations for plebiscite in Punjab to determine whether the Sikhs wanted to live in this country or not.

Addressing a conference here at Takhat Damdama Sahib in Bathinda district on Baisakhi Day the party president Mr Simranjit Singh Mann said the other issue be that of autonomy.

Mr, Mann said during his recent visit to Delhi he had given in writing to the Prime Minister VP Singh that we will not have under the present set up and we do not accept your constitution. He said he was prepared to make every sacrifice to get my people freedom. He declared that he would not bow before Delhi. He gave a call to the people to observe May 11 as black day to protest against the extension of President’s rule in the state. He said his party would have formed the government by that day had the President’s rule not been extended.

The party also decided to organize a march to Chandigarh from Amritsar on May 25 to organize a protest against the murder of democracy. He also gave a call to the Sikhs to observe ghallughara week from June 1 to June 6,

He reiterated that his party would carry forward the struggle launched by Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale.

He also reiterated that his party would not support the government in case of war with Pakistan if the government does not hold talks with his party and order release of detained persons,

Mr. Manjit Singh president of the All India Sikh Students Federation (Manjit) reiterated the demand for Khalistan and said elections to the state assembly was not an issue. He said the foundation of Khalistan was laid the day security forces entered Golden Temple during Operation Blue star.
