CHANDIGARH: The Akali Dal (M) president, Simranjit Singh Mann, is understood to have sought security from the Union government during his stay at a Delhi nursing home when he will be admitted for an eye operation. The Akali leader will undergo an operation for a damaged retina. The operation Is scheduled for May 19 at a private nursing home in Greater Kailash. Mann was released late last month along with the former Punjab chief minister and Akali Dal president, Prakash Singh Badal, and the SGPC president, Gurcharan Singh Tohra, when all the three leaders had complained of serious eye ailments.
They were among the 12 senior Akal activists detained for their anti-election campaign in the state.
