CHANDIGARH: Simranjit Singh Mann has expressed his inability to meet the union home minister Mufti Mohammad Sayed during his visit here.

Mann conveyed this to governor Verma in a letter and said he was preoccupied meeting the people in Sangrur. However he would be happy to meet the minister at his base camp in Sangrur.

The leader expressed concern in his letter about the govt decision to withdraw UN observers in Kashmir and said this move would enable the govt to act even more oppressively and in an unbridled manner. At a time when human Rights organizations like Amnesty were pressing hard to investigate atrocities it was ridiculous to withdraw the UN observers.

He also expressed concern at the rising prices, rampant corruption, and malpractices in industry and business even in the public sector.

The party wanted the oppressive state machinery dismantled he said.
