FATEHGARH SAHIB: The Sirhind police arrested Simranjit Singh Mann, ad hoc committee member of the Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar), from Bassi Pathanan, under Section 124-A and 153-A of Indian Penal Code, for making a seditious speech on December 26 at the Akali Dal (Amritsar) conference at Fatehgarh Sahib.
He was produced in the court of Sub Divisional Magistrate, Fatehgarh Sahib, B.C. Gupta, who remanded him to judicial custody till January 20 and sent him to the Central Jail Patialal. He has been granted A-class status and the judge also directed the Superintendent Patiala Jail, to provide medical treatment to Mann, Ranjan Lakhanpal, Advocate Punjab and Haryana High Court and Hardev Singh Rai, Advocate, Fatehgarh Sahib, appeared in the court on behalf of Mann.
