AMRITSAR: According to delayed reports the Election Commission of India has granted recognition to the Barnala faction of the Akali Dal. In letters to the Unified Akali Dal (Mann) secretary S. Gurtej Singh and MP Charanjit Singh Walia, the commission said the Barnala faction was the only recognized Akali party in Punjab.
The commission said all the letters it received’ from the Mann group were not from the Party’s registered office.
