NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Vishwanath Pratap Singh decided to let junior minister for environment Maneka Gandhi, go through work relating to the ministry.
This was decided after discussions with the federal minister of environment, Nilamani Routray and Maneka Gandhi an official spokesman said Friday.
Routray will continue to be incharge of all policy matters relating to the environment ministry, the spokesman added.
On June 1, Routray had issued an official order that all files relating to the environment ministry should no more go through Gandhi. This environmentalists and other groups felt, had done grave damage to her efforts to check environmental degradation,
The order was reversed by the prime minister on June 20.
