Chandigarh: In a major reshuffle of his ministry, the Punjab Chief Minister, Beant Singh, has shifted 15 ministers from their portfolios.
Beant Singh had been given the green signal some time ago and the reshuffle was overdue, The C.M. has used the occasion to move some of his more troublesome colleagues to less important posts, important portfolios as well as those against whom charges of corruption have been leveled are among the fallen.
Harehand Singh Brar, who fell from favor with the C.M, for his stiff opposition to the Sutlej Jamuna Link Canal has been moved to the Health Ministry.
Beant Singh has kept more than a dozen important portfolios for himself, the main ones being the Ministries of Revenue, Public Relations, Home, Transportation and Power. These will be headed by Ministers of State, who will work under the control of the CM,
Rajinder Kaur Bhattal has been appointed Minister of Technical Education after having been moved out of the Civil Supplies which has now been given to Lal Singh, L.S. Randhawa is expected to take over as Speaker when the Education Ministry passes to Khushal Behl.
