CHANDIGARH: Lt. Gen Arun Gautam will take over as the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Command, at Chandimandir, April 23.

He swaps places with Li Gen Ravinder Kumar Gulau, who is taking over as GOC-in-C. Central Command at Lucknow.

Both the generals were commissioned into the armored corps in June 1958. Gen Gautam was commissioned into 16 Cavalry and then went on to command an armored brigade, an infantry division and a corps in the Eastern Sector. Gen Gulati, who was commissioned into the Deccan Horse, saw active combat in the Khem Katan and Chhamb sectors of Punjab and J&K and also at Naokhali in Bangladesh. He took over as GOC-in-C, Western Command in July 1993.
