CHANDIGARH (PTI): Five militants, including the Lt General of the militant outfit ‘Bhindranwale Tiger Force of Khalistan,’ and two border security force personnel were among 10 people killed while one person was abducted in the northern Indian state of Punjab on June 23. Lt Gen of the BTFK was killed in a fierce encounter with security forces during a search operation at Kalaundi village under Bassi Pathana police station area of the newly created Fategarh Sahib district.
Four militants, two in Mansa and two in Kapurthala districts, were killed in separate encounters. One .12 bore double barrel cut gun, one .32 bore revolver, one magazine of a stenguns, over 60 cartridges of different calibers and one diary bearing the name of one Nirmal Singh Alias Nimma, BTFK, was recovered from the spot. Two B.S.F. men identified as Inder Bahadur Thapa and Hart Shankar Tiwani were killed in an exchange of fire with a group of militants.
