LONDON: Iran Tuesday renewed its call for the Indian born British author Salman Rushdie to be killed for committing blasphemy against Islam in his controversial novel “Satanic Verses.”

Iran’s spiritual leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said Rushdie must be handed over to British Muslims to be killed for blasphemy against Islam.

According to Tehran Radio monitored here, Ali Khamenei said Salman Rusdie’s execution would be the simple solution to problems between Iran and Britain over the affair.
