NEW DELHI: Lok Nath Mishra former Member of Parliament was on Friday appointed the new governor of Assam in place of D.D.Thakur.
Bhanu Prakash Singh former union minister has been appointed new Governor of Goa.
Devi Das Thakur announced his resignation in Guwahati saying that he was doing so in deference to the wishes of the prime minister. Thakur had been appointed by the erstwhile Janata Dal government led by V.P.Singh.
Thakur stayed on after Chandra Shekhar took over as prime minister and Assam under president’s rule.
The new governor Lok Nath Mishra was a Member of Parliament from Orissa.
Bhanu Prakash Singh fills the vacancy created by shifting of Khurshid Alam Khan to Karnataka. Singh was a minister in the Indira Gandhi government.
