Sir,

I was surprised to see my alleged Statement in News India on the 22nd and the 31st of May under the title U.S. Sikhs Express Shock over Killing regarding Rajiv Gandhi’s assassination. During the evening of May 21st when a News India correspondent called me for comments on the assassination I had told him that would have a written statement ready for him on the following day After a very brief general discussion that evening he never called me for the statement.

I very strongly protest the misrepresentations of my opinion on the subject matter that was mentioned above. I now state my views as follows:

  1. Rajiv Gandhi’s assassination though a personal tragedy for Sonia Gandhi is the result of an unprecedented reign of injustice and terror inflicted upon the Sikhs Muslims and other minorities of India which was started by his mother Indira Gandhi.
  2. We are relieved that the Dynasty Rule in India is over and hope that at the end of this dictatorship (or so called democracy) the real democracy might emerge which would fulfill the aspirations of the minorities.
  3. This is a historical fact that whoever attacked the Golden Temple fell under the curse of God resulting in their death and destruction of their family. Since Indira Gandhi attacked the Golden

Temple in 1984 Sikhs have been anticipating exactly this fate for her and her family which has proved true

  1. Rajiv Gandhi had a personal vendetta against the Sikhs and was unable to settle the Punjab problem. We now hope that the new government when elected will sit down with Sikh Ieaders and settle the boundaries of Khalistan
