Dear Editor,

This is in reference to the letter by Gurbaksh Singh Sanghera in which he has commented on Sabat Surat Dastar Sira by Dr. Chahal & S. Manmohan Singh. My views are as follows? Sikhism is   philosophy but way of life. Any person who follows the teachings of Guru i.e. from Guru Nanak to Guru Gobind Singh and con siders Guru Granth Sahibas his Living and Eternal Gum, is a Sikh, Last living Guru, Guru Gobind Singh ordered that every Sikh must take Khande di Pohul and keep Rehat, both of inside and outside. Cutting of hair, eating Kutha and tobacco and having sex with other than his companion will remove the person from Sikhism of Khalsa fold. We have to obey this Hukam (Order) of Guru Gobind Singh. If one has to work in bakery etc., he can tie his beard, cover his hair with net etc. This is for beard, head is already covered by turban or Dupatta or scarf.

Guru Gobind Singh had all kinds of modern weapons (up to that time) with him. Pistols and rifles were used in battles. Apart from Kirpan we can keep up to date sophisticated weapons which the state/law permits. Now mostly Sikhs are keeping 4to 9 inch blade kirpan as symbol and at the time of Guru Gobind Singh and Missiles, it was kept in kamar kassa (waist belt) only. Guru Nanak’s words, there is no Hindu or Muslim, means that those people were not living time according to their faith and so is true for many Sikhs. We should remove defects from our lives and become true Sikhs. With outliner Rehati.e. Virtues, outwardly Rehat becomes mockery. I am attaching a Hukam Nama of Guru Gobind Singh the Sangat of Kabul for year perusal.

The writer has not suggested the changes which he wants for revision of the Symbols. Al ready many people take certain precautions to avoid accidents while working such as taking off the Kara and putting in the pocket till the work is done; tie up the flowing beard as is being done in the Military since the time of Maharaja Sher Singh; dump the symbol Kirpan in pant under the shirt.

Read the Hukam Nama carefully and then comment. We have not to finish the identity of Sikhs and which is the aim of the Brahmin Hindu Govt of India by misinterpreting the meanings of Gurbani couraging the persons to come like them. Many persons in Indian Army have done it to get the promotion etc. We should remember Guru Gobind Singh’s words:

Jab Lag Khalsa Rahe Niara, Tab Lag Tej Deon Main Sara. Jab Eh Gahain Bipran Ki Preet, Main Na Karon In Kee Partteet.
