Dear Editor,

After reading the article, “Hindus on the warpath in Punjab,” I couldn’t resist bursting into laughter at the ludicrous appeal to the Punjab Government by Hindu Shiv Sena, Vice President, that they be provided with arms and training. He further complains that all it takes {0 kill is a bullet and that Sikhs have the bullets.

He sounds like a wimpy little kid who has lost his marbles and now is looking for a big brother to help him out. Poor kid! Mercy him Oh Lord! Does it ever occur to these Hindu wimps how and from where Sikhs are managing to get ‘weapons to fight Hindu oppression? The entire Hindu arsenal and all the Hindu men cannot provide what it takes and that is; “COURAGE.

After all the ruthless oppression, Sikhs have proven again that they know how to fight back and settle the score. As long as this spirit is alive, no amount of arms or Shiv Sena can deter them from seeking justice. This martial spirit is a product of their faith; therefore, the Sikhs shall always remain Sardars just as Cow and Shiv-ling (Fertility Lord Shiva’s male organ) ‘worshipers shall remain Hindus. The Shiv Sena will be better off prostrating before the Shiv-ling than to fiddle with the barrel of the gun. Through worship of the ling, they can boost their numbers like locusts and dream of conquering the world. It is that simple. A 100,000 man army of Shiv-ling ‘worshippers may not be enough to face a handful of brave Sikhs. The choice is of course theirs.

I personally hope that the Hindu appointed Akali Government fulfills their demand for arms and bullets as these will end up in the hands of the martial race sooner or later, After all, how will a Bania prove his worth? If he summons up his courage to fire a bullet, he can in the bargain lose his profit and the sound of the blast may scare his pants off. My advice to these Dhoti Topi chaps is to accept Khalistan before the heat incinerates them.

Yours Sincerely,

Dear Editor:

S, Surjit Singh (WSN March 28, letters) has mentioned that my statement “One can use any name for God to love Him” is not in agreement with another authority on Sikhism. He quotes that Satnam (true name) as “Waheguru” was revealed only to Guru Nanak. Other names are Kirtam (false).

Kirtam Naam Kathe Tere Jehba. Satnam Tera Pra Purbla.

This was said by Guru Arjun and not by Guru Nanak. “Kita” ‘means “created” and not “false”. It slates that, “My tongue repeatedly says the names it can think of”, “Pra Purbla” means “very very old”, There is, in this quotation, no contradiction of what I had stated in the article.

My conclusions are based on obvious facts recorded in Gurbani Guru Nanak strongly criticized the behavior of Mullahs and Kazis but “Allah” a name used by them for God was also acceptable to the Guru; Allah, Alakh, Agamm..P64 of Adi Granth. Guru Nanak was very critical of Yogis but he had no hesitation to repeatedly use the name “Niranjan” (P3 Adi Granth) popular with them for God, The name “Kartar” (P-721) was adopted by Nanak when he addressed his prayer to God in Persian language, There are innumerable other names used for God in Gurbani e.g. Ram, Gobind, Hari etc.

All this is a convincing proof that Nanak broke the monopoly of different religious and sects that there is only one name, the repetition of which is essential for realizing God. The inclusion in the Adi Granth of hymns written by holy-men (Bhagats), who used different names to love God, leaves no doubt that one can realize God by loving him by any name he likes.
