The effort made by Darlene R. Dhillon (World Sikh News, May 9) to focus on the deplorable condition of Sikhs in the Punjab is commendable. The analysis points out that Hindus are more conscious about the conflict than Sikhs; they are aided and abetted by the communal Punjab press and resources of the Indian Government. With the patronage of the Government, militant Hindus have been encouraged to humiliate Sikhs by knocking off their turbans. Events in Punjab should prick the conscience of all self-respecting Sikhs and they should raise their voice against state sponsored terrorism.
