Dear Sir,

I would like to respond to a letter written by Hindu Maha-Sangh that appeared in World Sikh News — May 31, 1985. The main theme of the letter was that the Hindus of India will demolish the Sikhs and will dig their grave-yards.

The following facts should shed some light as to how brave these Hindus are.

  1. During the British rule in India Lala Lajpat Rai sustained serious injuries in a “Lathi Charge” in Lahore and died. It was a brave Sikh named Bhagat Singh who shot the English police officer Mr. Saunders to avenge the insult.

Where were these brave Hundus then?

  1. Guru Teg Bahadur was approached by Kashmiri Brahmins (ancestors of Rajiv Gandhi) for help against religious persecution by Muslim rulers. Guru Sahib sacrificed his life to uphold the principal of religious freedom.

Where were these brave Hindus then?

  1. During the struggle for India’s Independence, the people who were sent to the gallows, or exiled to Andaman and who formed INA (Army in Exile to liberate India), more than 75% of them were Sikhs.

Where were these brave Hindus then?

  1. It was a Sikh named Udham Singh who shot General Michael O’Dwyer to settle the score for Jalianwala Bagh massacre at Amritsar,

Where were these brave Hindus then?

  1. A Hindu Raja Man Singh gave his sister in marriage to a Muslim King Akbar to win favors. The hill Hindu Rajas were the tools of the Moghal Empire.

Where was the Hindu Self-respect and honor then?

mad Shah Abdail attacked India again in 1761. He looted all the wealth and took with him thousands of Hindu girls as slaves. It was the Sikh

Forces led by eminent and brave generals like Jassa Singh Ahluwalia who attacked and freed the Hindu girls from Abdali. For this heroic deed S. Jassa Singh Ahluwalia was known %s “Bandi Chorah.””

Where were these brave Hindus then?

  1. The main gates of the Som Nath Temple were taken away by Moslem invaders. The brave Sikhs brought them back and installed them at Shri Harmander Sahib in Amritsar.

Where were these brave Hindus then?

  1. The Sikh Soldiers were always the front rankers in wars with China, Pakistan, defending the frontiers. It was a Sikh general who defeated the captured Pakistan forces in Bangladesh in 1972.

Where were these brave Hindus then?

We, the Sikhs, all over the world are ready to rise to any occasion and are willing to meet any challenge.

 

Let me say in the closing, those Hindus who think that they will dig a grave-yard for Sikhs, are first rate cowards and most ungrateful and gutless Curs. May I remind them to study Sikh History for their own good.
