Dear Editor: The urgent call recently made to Sikhs by the High Priests in India to support freedom fighters in their efforts to shake off the shackles of slavery is very timely.

I am delighted to see W.S.O. leaders’ statement in support of this but they don’t seem to bring this into practical reality. Recently held International level conference in Stockton was not attended by W.S.O. leaders. At this time Sikhs masses need unity. This conference was well attended from all over the world, including Khalistan government in exile from London, Babbar Khalsa International from Vancouver, International Sikh Students delegation from Vancouver.

At this conference I was surprised at the absence of W.S.O. International President and W.S.O. U.S.A. President , even a representative from California. I, being a founding member of this organization, felt shame when I attended this conference. I took the opportunity from the organizer to speak on their behalf, in support of this urgent call. I urgently request through your columns to W.S.O. leaders, “Please be more practical and bring into reality the statements that are given by you in World Sikh News. This is the time to practice what you say”.

Sikh people are passing through great tragedies, hardships, and are being oppressed by the cruel rulers of the present-day India. Unless we forget our egos, we should not stay at the top of W.S.O. Let concerned Sikhs run this organization.

I pray to the Almighty God this letter brings constructive improvement in their behavior, rather than considering this as a challenge to their leadership.

I hope you will print this letter in your newspaper and hoping this will come to their attention. I congratulate you for your editorials in the paper and also the organizers of the International Sikh Conference in Stockton.

Gursharan Singh, M.D. Delano, Ca.

*NOTE: World Sikh News was informed by Dr. Harbans Singh Sraon, Treasurer, World Sikh Organization that he was directed by the President to attend the conference on his behalf as he had some prior engagements. Dr. Sraon also disclosed that he did correct Dr. Gurcharan Singh at the conference also when the latter raised this issue. Dr. Sraon said it was wrong to suggest that W.S.O. was not. represented at the conference when he, the Treasurer of the, organization, came specially from Los Angeles and participated in all the deliberation.
