‘Dear Editor:
I am writing this letter in reply to Mr. Amarjit Buttar’s letter of Jan. 10, 1986.
Sikh Panth is passing through a very difficult period, people who have selfish motives start such controversies to create further divisions in the already divided Panth.
Bhai Santokh Singh and Bhai Veer Singh Ji are very honored ‘Sikh historians whatever they have written is very authentic. Mr. Tully should tell us what does he ‘want to prove by denying that the foundation of Harmander Sahib ‘was laid by Mian Meer. All Sikh Gurus starting from Guru Nanak Dev Ji to Guru Gobind Singh Ji tried their best to bring Hindus and Muslims close to each other and it is a well-known fact that Gurus had hundreds of Muslim devotees. so there is nothing controversial that Guru Arjan Dev Ji asked Mian Meer to lay the foundation of Harmander Sahib. The whole Sikh philosophy is to bring all humanity under the roof of “The Only One God”, It is a pity Sikhs do not understand Sikhism. We should be proud of people like Dr. Gurbakhsh Singh. True to the concept of Gurbani, he has explained so well in his articles on :
- Is drinking and eating meeting, permissible for Sikhs?
- Religion and politics can they go together?
Only ignorant people raise these questions again and again.

Dear Editor
In the editorial published in The World Sikh News January 17, 1986, you attained great heights and thoroughly exposed the man who has sold his conscience for the sake of money and position.
Zail Singh says that he is being unnecessarily maligned for building up Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale and that he met Jarnail Singh only ‘once and that too in a Gurdwara ‘near Amritsar. When he was holding kirtan (Tribune sec. 30). But his picture appears in Delhi with Bhindranwale on page 113 of Tulley’s book, “Amritsar, Mrs. Gandhi’s Last Battle “, How can he say that he met him only once? The reader can decide as to who is right the media or Zail Singh?
Zail Singh says,“ Sikhism is not a religion” ”but in the article ‘Right to Freedom of Religion’ part III article 25 page 13 of the Constitution of India, Sikhism is mentioned as a religion. Is not the President guilty of perjury and ‘does it not amount to violation of
the Constitution of India which he is expected to preserve, protect and defend as per the oath taken by him ? Under article 61 of the ‘Constitution of India he should be impeached by both the houses of parliament for having violated the provisions of the Constitution.
Zail Singh goes on to say,“ Had I been in league with Sant Jamail ‘Singh, Mrs. Gandhi would not have chosen me for the highest honour in the country ” but he forgets that it was for this very reason for dividing the Sikh community and playing one faction against the other amongst the Sikhs that he was chosen for his services and elevated to the highest office in the country. He cannot forget the public on this account, “They want up to fight among ourselves like shrews. Beware,” said Sant Jarnail Singh (P.113Tully’s book)

Dear Editor:
I was surprised to hear the verdict in Indira Gandhi murder trial. What a shame it is. I think rulers in New Delhi believe in no God, Death sentence to three men for the murder of an old lady while two of them were not even present at the scene is something that India’s history will record as a revengeful punishment and not as a judicial judgment, Defense attorney, Mr. Lekhi, is very correct to call it a “judicial murder”. I do not understand what Government of India is trying to accomplish. If they are trying to scare the “Sikh Community” to keep their mouths shut, that is not going to work. They killed one “Bhindranwale” and thousands were born, now if one “Satwant” is killed thousands more will be born.
‘Anyway, this verdict gives us a clear view about the future of Sikhs in India.

Dear Editor,
I fully endorse Mr. Jawa’s constructive suggestions in the form of neatly defined criteria for restructuring W.S.O. His thinking is equally applicable to other mass organizations. However, our insensitive leadership is not willing to abdicate their royal throne, The sudden rise of middle class leadership in the west is a new phenomenon a. A majority of our organizers and leaders are treasure hunters and lack necessary motivation, skill and experience to involve ‘masses. Their expertise in the area of organization seldom goes beyond the nitty gritty of constitution making, Constitutions are made to justify incompetency and status Ouo, It is a shame that the most dynamic and progressive nation in the south eastern region and western world is led by those people who refuse to pay heed to the call of their national destiny.

Dear Editor:
America celebrated January 20, 1986 as the first Federal holiday honouring the slain civil rights leader late Martin Luther Jr.’s birthday.
It was reported that the civil rights leader was impressed by Indian Hindu leader, M.K. Gandhi, in pursuing the goal of racial equality through civil disobedience, nonviolence and boycott.
Indian Republic’s first President, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, stated in an article published in 1935 that the principle which Mahatma
Gandhi introduced so vigorously in our freedom movement was expounded by Baba Ram Singh, a Sikh who founded the sect called Namdharis. The year was 1876,
