WORLD No. nine Henri Leoconte is assiduous in his training once he sets foot on the tennis court. But he certainly is considerable towards his fans. The French star, who perished at the hands of World No. one Ivan Lendl at Wimbledon, this year, took time off his rigorous practice session to pass on a few tips to a sportsman teenager, Malcolm.
The 15yearold Malcolm, who has lost his right arm, met his sporting hero during an all-expenses paid trip to London organized by the Malcolm Sargeant Cancer Charity.
Leconte was most amiable during the time he spent with the boy answering his questions with amazing frankness and giving the youngster tips. Later Malcolm revealed, “He is so nice and friendly. I’m a big fan of his. And I hope he wins Wimbledon someday”.
The cancer afflicted youngster still plays tennis, golf, badminton and snooker.
That’s probably more than what his idol, Leconte, does.
