CARACAS VENEZUELA: President Carlos Andres Perez swore Dec.1 he would serve out his term and stick to his economic austerity program despite wide-spread discontent that helped fuel two coup attempts.
“There will be no new coup in Venezuela” he told a news conference four days after loyalist forces crushed an uprising.
