KOLHAPUR, India: Young Indian all-rounder Bharat Arun followed fine bowling performance with an unbeaten century to stake a claim for a test place as India’s under 25 cricketers drew the three day match with Sri Lanka.
‘Arun scored 107 of the Indian total of 392 for five in reply to Sri Lanka’s first innings 502 for seven declared.
He and Captain Chandrakant Pandit, who hit an unbeaten 101, put on 193 for the sixth wicket.
The Indians, 124 for two overnight, resumed cautiously against a medium paced attack. Graeme Labrooy quickly added to his two wickets by bowling opener Carlton Saldana and trapping Shrikant Kalyani Leg before.
He was eventually hit out of the attack by Pandit and Arun, who are vying for places in the first on Wednesday. Pandit hit 10 fours, but Arun stole the show with a superb display including two sixes and’ 16 fours.
