BATALA: Gobind Ram, the Senior Superintendent of police, Batala. but better known as the “Butcher of Batala” has been transferred to the Punjab Armed Police lines in Jalandhar following Professor Darshan Singh’s protest call for September 8 in Chandigarh.
Gobind Ram had gained notoriety for atrocities particularly against women and innocent young men. He is said to be responsible for the cold blooded murders of scores of people while in police custody. He is known to boast about his inhuman methods and misdeeds.
Prof Darshan Singh has deferred his Sept 8 plan.
