Jarnail Singh was born in Shanker in Jullundur District in 1921. His father Milkha Singh migrated to California in 1924. Jarnail himself arrived here in 1949 to join his tather, began working on the ranches in Yuba City from 1949-1956. He had been active in the Sikh Temple in Stockton, and later in Fresno from 1979-1988. He was responsible for designing, acquiring land, and other matter regarding the temple in Caruthers. But Mr. Purewal passed away all too suddenly on March 16, 1988. He is survived by his wife and daughters Dharmjit Kaur and Shamsher and sons Baldey and Sharnjit.
