CHANDIGARH: The Chief Minister, Chhabilda Mehta, after a high level meeting last week, ordered all efforts to control the spread of the disease in Surat.

Although the reason behind this mysterious ever is unknown, people believe the recent floods in the area may have caused the outbreak. The Chief Secretary, R.Balkrishnan, has, however, claimed that the plague outbreak” has been brought under control. He said 53 affected persons, who were admitted to hospitals, were responding well of treatment. AS many as six teams of doctors had been deployed and 150 bags of gamaxin sprayed in the affected areas. As many as 6.25 lakh chlorine tablets had been distributed so far.
