LACHMAN SINGH THIARA: He is the nephew of S. Hukam Singh, one of the pioneers among the first Sikh immigrants of 1906. S. Hukam Singh came with eleven of his friends from the same village of Dakowal. Lachman Singh came to United States in 1950 and is a very successful farmer. He owns about 1500 acres of land. He was popular as a poet at Stockton Gurdwara. He is dedicated to gurdwaras and helped to build two gurdwaras of Yuba City and contributed to many others. He is now President of Bouge Road Gurdwara. He has three sons, Gurdial’Singh, Gurdev Singh and Kuldeep Singh. All the three are well settled and are active in the sociopolitical life of the area.
