RIVERSIDE CA: A Fund Raiser for Congressman Dan Burton was held on Feb.131994 at Sikh Temple Riverside CA
It was hosted by Management Committee of Sikh Temple of Riverside and held in the evening from 6 to 8 pm in the main hall of Sikh Temple of Riverside.
Dr. Shivdev Singh of Sikh Gurdwara of Los Angeles introduced Congressman Dan Burton to the Sangat and gave a brief background of the Congressman’s ‘work behalf of the Sikh community.
The Congressman spoke for half an hour and answered several questions from the audience He thanked the Sikh Community for Supporting him.
The Congressman tried to encourage the Sikh Community by giving an example of President Ronald Reagan.
Ronald Reagan once stood up on the Berlin Wall and said “Mr. Gorbachey take the wall down.” Although nobody took this Statement seriously after a couple of years not only did the Berlin wall come down but the entire communist system collapsed
At the end Jasbir Singh Tung Chairman Sikh Gurdwara of Los Angeles thanked the Congress man for raising his voice against human rights violations and making the Congress and the President of the United States aware of what has been happening in Punjab
There is no other non-Sikh individual who has done as much as Congressman Dan Burton has done for the cause said one of the audience members.” Mr-Tung emphasized the need to help Congressman Dan Burton in his re-election bid this year more than ever Sikhs should support him Without Representatives like him in the Congress human rights which we the birth right of each human being will not be protected. This fund raiser was organized by Jasbir Singh Tung Chairman Sikh Gurdwara of Los Angeles & Coordinated by Joginder Singh Sandhu Shingara Singh Manohar Singh of Sikh Temple of River side.
Participation included: Sikh Gurdwara of Los Angeles Sikh Temple of Buena Park Sikh Temple (Vermont) of Los Angeles Sikh Temple of Riverside Guru Ram Das Ashram of Los Angeles. Limousine ‘Transportation Service was provided by Guru Ram Das Ashram along with a special delegation headed by Sardar Bahadur Singh who came to welcome the Congressman.
