‘CHANDIGARH: The Punjab government is reported to have issued orders to confiscate the entire immovable and movable property worth about Rs 1 corer belonging to Dr. Sohan Singh a senior member of the five member panthic committee.
A criminal case has been registered at Jullundur against Dr. Sohan Singh for running a campaign against the Hind Samachar group of newspapers. A special court reportedly declared Dr. Sohan Singh a proclaimed offender some time ago to pave the way for the confiscation of his property. Dr. Sohan Singh retired as Director of Health Services, Punjab in 1974.
He is now 75. His property is located in Himachal Pradesh and UP apart from Punjab. He went underground in 1986 and led the militant movement in Punjab.
The document calling for Khalistan was drafted by Dr. Sohan Singh when it was released at Amnitsar in April 1986. Dr. Sohan Singh also coordinates the activities of the four other militant organisations. He is said to be opposed to all kinds of extortions, innocent killings and excesses against Hindus merely on religious grounds. However, Dr. Sohan Singh is unsparing about the old Akali culture and has provided intellectual leadership to militant Sikhs who are working for Khalistan.
