NEW DELHI: Dissident Congress MP. P.R. Kumaramangalam has informed Home Minister S.B. Chavan that the was receiving threatening calls and letters and requested him to order an inquiry into it.

In a letter to Home Minister, Kumaramangalam said one Gurminder Singh Khalsa, so-called commander of “Rao Tiger Force (Phagwara) had written an abusive letter dated April 10 to him about which he had informed the internal security minister, Rajesh Pilot

Another letter has been received by his wife from Gurdip Singh Dhillon of the same organization, which calegorically talked of a group being set up to eliminate him if he did not drop his proposal to move the cut-motions. Kumaramangalam said.

Suspecting that these efforts had the support of people in authority Kumaramangalam said, “it is quite possible that these letters are being organized to intimidate him.” Meanwhile, the Congress leadership, faced with the threat of introduction of cut-motions on the general budget, has called a meeting of State conveners of the Congress in Parliament (CPP) in New Delhi.
