Dear Editor,
I am writing this letter in response to what was published under “Hindus, Sikhs Are Brothers” in the December 30, 1994 issue of News India-Times. The letter of N. Kataria is riddled with bizarre outpourings; therefore deserving no reply. However, A.K. Dey’s letter tried to fathom similarities of Krishna’s message with that of Guru Gobind Singh’s merit an answer.
Krishna said to Arjuna.. “for whenever the law of righteousness withers away and lawlessness arises, then do I generate myself (on earth). For the protection of the good, for the destruction of evildoers, for the setting of the law of righteousness I come into being age after age” (Bhagavad-Gita 4: 7-8). Keeping this statement in proper context, Krishna is talking about the caste (varna) and its protection. It has nothing in common with Guru Gobind Singh’s statement (s). You might be interested to know if Krishna was true to his own spoken. words uttered to Arjuna. The answer is, no. If you read the rest of the Mahabharata, one point comes out to be clear both good and evil had been relentlessly destroyed and there was no sign of the restoration of the law of righteousness. Mahabharata war took the lives of 1,660,020,000 (Mahabharata 11:26:9-10) human beings. I suppose. Gandhari, the mother of Dhritarashtra’s hundred slaughtered sons was right when she held Krishna solely responsible for this mayhem (which Krishna agreed!) and, then, appropriately cursed Krishna. Krishna returned home to his tribe only to find Gandhari’s curse started to work. Krishna’s tribe went berserk and the tribe men slaughtered each other in a drunken orgy in which Krishna himself participated,
O my fellow Hindus, your god Krishna simply failed. Among the various causes of his failure, Kristina own moral de facts tanked the highest. With that kind of Krishna’s track record, how can you in your right sense relate the teachings of Guru Gobind Singh to that of an obvious morally defunct message or Krishna? Take another fresh look at the Guru Gobind Singh’s message. One of the best sources 10 learn about that message is a remark able book originally written in 1941.titled: The History of Hindu Imperialism by Swami Dharma Theertha. This book can be obtained from Dalit Education literature Center, Post Box 2296, Madras. 500 023. India, Swami Dharma Theertha succinctly delineated the message of all 10 Nanaks (that includes Guru Gobind Singh) to the Sikhs as follows:
(1) They must believe only in One Immortal God.
(2) They must not worship idols, cemeteries, trees or spirits
(3) They must ever help the poor and protect those sought their protection
(4) They must have no distinctions of caste or class or profession and must deem themselves members of one family
(5) They must practice the use of arms, must wear arms constantly. must never Nee before an enemy, and must be pre pared to die for the cause of truth and justice
(6) They must lead a pure life of chastity moderation discipline, benevolent actions and dedication to God and the nation.
(1) The Central Committee called the Khalsa was to be the final authority in all match
(8) The teachings of the 10 Gunus em-1 bodies in the Granth was to be their religious text
(9) Any five Sikhs could meet and give initiation to others and take them into the fold
(10) Women were to have all the consolations of religion which men enjoined
(11) Every one was to live by honest labor and shun the company of idlers and wicked men
(12) As a sign of the new life they had entered, all Sikhs were to be known as Singhs (lions).
Swami Dharma Theertha by the age of S6 had the fortitude to renounce Hinduism for permanent. I transforming fear riddled populace into brave oriented is a sole criteria, then, Mr. Dey, it is time to put the record straight: Guru Gobind Singh is the only one who made us the lions. Krishna taught us nothing less than to be mindless and be a bunch of criminal high time for dear Hindus to seek refuge in the House of Nanak and take on the baptism of our Lord – Guru Gobind Singh – and usher yourself to a higher cause: Bring freedom to our fellow 600 million ‘Sudra human brothers and sisters especially the Untouchables and the tribal’s who had paid and still paying the deadliest price for ages to the cause of Hinduism perpetuation of the Hindu Apartheid G.B.
