CHANDIGARH: R.K Sharma IG CRPF currently posted in Delhi is being shifted to Punjab reportedly in deference to the wishes of K.P.S Gill the all-powerful DGP of the state who wants him for operational support against militancy.

As Sharmaisa Punjab cadre MPS officer the state government will promote him as a DGP official sources said here.

The sources said the Center has decided to withdraw BSF from Punjab and deploy 150200 additional company of the CRPF to make up the consequential depletion in the strength of security forces The CRPF will thus be the only the paramilitary force in the state for anti-militancy operations and this is what Gill who has also come from CRPF apparently wants The BSF however will continue to be deployed at the border.

P.S Horal G.P. is another Punjab deputations’ in Delhi who is meeting to his parent state and will be promoted a DGP.

S.S Virk DIG CRPF serving in Punjab and also considered a blue eyed boy of Gill is being given the “local rank of IGP Gill had reportedly requested the Union Home Minister S.B Chavan when he recently came to Chandigarh that he would like to have Sharmaand Virk behind him in fighting militants.

The Punjab government is also considering creating four more post of IGPs to promote DIGs of Punjab police. The matter will be considered at the high level meeting here.

The official sources said that some sections of the Army deployed in Punjab are being withdrawn for training which a regular feature is. The Army deployment therefore may be thinned but there is no proposal to withdraw it immediately

AMRITSAR: India has released four members of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) after detaining them for two months.

The four were handed over to the Pakistani authorities at Wagha road barrier near Temple City of Amritsar in North Indian border state Punjab May 13 official sources said here
