CHANDIGARH: Security forces gunned down Tarsem Singh Konke, deputy chief of Khalistan Liberation Force and his Sangrur district parmukh (chief), in Jagraon police district on March 29.

Elsewhere in Punjab, Joga Singh, a Lt. General and a founder member of the Khalistan Armed Force and his wife were among 15 militants killed last weekend.

State police chief K.P.S.Gill said that in an hourlong encounter, security forces gunned down Tarseem Singh and Harjinder Singh near Rakba village in Jagraon police distraction Monday.

Gill said on a tipoff, the security forces raided Rakba village and engaged the two militants in an encounter which lasted more than one hour. The two slain militants were among the most wanted militants in the state, he added,

Last week the gang had gunned down seven members of a particular community in a locality in Jagmion district town,

Tarseem Singh was involved in bomb blast in Chachrauli in which seven persons were blown off, Jasowal bomb blast and killing of executive magistrate R.K.Goyal and his wife, near Jagraon, killing of state Director of Health Service Bachhitar Singh and Killing of six BSF jawans near Pabian.

In an another encounter, security forces gunned down Joga Singh, a founder member of the Khalistan Armed Force, his wife Kamaljit Kaur alias Malka and their one unidentified accomplice near Khanpur village in Majitha police district on Sunday night.

District Police Chief Paramjit Singh Gill said that Joga Singh was responsible for more than 100 killings including the killing of a police inspector in Bombay and a large number of extortions. Kamaljit Kaur, the police chief said, used to take part in encounters along with her husband.

In another encounter, security forces gunned down four militants near Sahniwal village in Majitha police district on Sunday night.
