KATHMANDU: Girija Prasad Koirala general secretary of the ruling Nepali congress escaped unhurt from two murderous assaults on him by the members of rival political parties during the last two days officials said here on Sunday.

The attacks were mounted on his meeting at Pyuthan and then on his convoy on way to Dang both in western Nepal during the past two days the officials said

Koirala has demanded the resignation of minister for home affairs Yog Prasad Upadhyaya on moral grounds for the deteriorating law and order situation in the country.

A top official of the home ministry however told PTI on condition of anonymity that the Mashal faction.
