TORTURE is prohibited by international law. Torture degrades the victim and the torturer. Those who justify torture by ideological, political, religious or racial arguments are guilty of the most heinous violations of HUMAN RIGHTS. THOSE WHO KNOW OF TORTURE AND DO NOTHING TO STOP IT ARE EQUALLY GUILTY. From the 1988 report of the United Nations it is clear that torture, known as ‘a relic of the Middle Ages,” is far too prevalent in the 20th century. The number of individual cases and the number of countries practicing torture are on the increase. INDIA HAS ALSO JOINED THIS CLUB.

The Indian government representative in the UNITED NATIONS COMMISSION FOR HUMAN RIGHTS stated that his government prohibits such practice by law and penalizes the torturer. According to this statement it is clear that police officers, using torture as a means of investigation, are breaking the law of the country and international law. Under these circumstances it is the duty of every law abiding citizen to report these cases. Therefore, if you are a victim of torture or know of someone who has been tortured, then please give us the following details. We will prepare these cases and submit them to the United Nations and other international organizations.

  1. Full particulars of the victim (name, address, age, etc.)
  2. Name of the torturer and place where torture took place
  3. Dates of arrest, torture and release from detention
  4. Legal documents (F.1.R., copy of writ, appeal, habeas corpus, medical report, etc.)
  5. Legal action taken to bring guilty officers to justice; if none, give reasons (lack of funds, fear of persecution, etc.).

REMEMBER: IF YOU KNOW OF TORTURE AND DO NOTHING, THEN YOU ARE EQUALLY GUILTY.
