CHANDIGARH: Virsa Singh, a Lieutenant general of the Khalistan Liberation was among the six militants killed in Punjab last week, Security forces gunned down militant Virsa Singh in an encounter at Kot Khera village in Majitha police district on Feb, 20. Majitha police Chief Paramjit Singh Gill told news men that Virsa Singh was spotted by a police patrol party when he was moving along a canal in the area. He was given a hot chase and later killed in an encounter.

 

Gill said with the killing of Virsa Singh, the entire KLF (Trasvira group) militant outfit had been liquidated in the Majitha police district.

He said earlier Majitha district police had wiped out the Dashmesh Regiment and Khalistan Armed Force militant outfit from the district.

In an encounter, security forces gunned down two unidentified militants near Bagga village in Amritsar district Friday night. A rifle, a sten gun, a scooter and a quantity of ammunition were recovered from the slain militants.

In another encounter, two more unidentified militants were shot dead by security forces near Jagraon Drain Bridge in the Jagraon police district (Ludhiana) Friday night.
