WASHINGTON: Dharmik Committee of Gung Nanak Foundation of America, Maryland, very successfully organized a Kirtan Samelan on February 27. Sixty children from ages 5: years to 21 years from Maryland, District of Columbia, and Virginia participated. Children were placed in three age groups. First group was from Age 5 years to 10 years, second group was from 11 years to 16 years and third group was from age 17 years to 21 years. Each participant performed the Kirtan individually.
Nine judges, three for each group, judged the talented recital of kirtan. They unanimously declared the following nine winners.
First Group: 1st, Tresa Kaur Dusai; 2nd, Simrit Kaur; 3rd, Jasprect K. Saini, Second Group: 1st, Jiwanjot K.Tulsi; 2nd, Gurpreet Kaur Channa; 3rd, Aman Kaur. Third Group: 1st, Priyadarshan K.Tulsi; 2nd, Amarjeet K.Manku; 3rd, Lakhyinder Singh Wadhwa.
All participants were given certificates of merits, Duptas for girls and Dastars (turbans) for boys. Those who performed much better and placed 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in each group were awarded Bonds of $150, $100, and $50, respectively.
