GEEN ROCK, NJ: A kirtan darbar was held on August 20 at the Sri Guru Singh Sabha Gurdwara in here. Top ragis as well as children came together to sing the holy hymns.
‘The function was organised by the Gurdwara management and the Sikh youth. It was dedicated to the martyrs and freedom fighters especially Gen. Labh Singh of the Khalistan Commando Force, Lt. Gen. Sumit Singh Penta, Gen. Kataj Singh Dhanda Bhindrawale Tiger Force, Bhai Guyit Singh Kaka (All India Sikh Students Federation), Sukhwinder Singh Chidu, Bhai Jagdish Singh Bhola (Khalistan Liberation Force) and Bhai Gurbachan Singh Khalsa (Dal Khalsa).
Paintings of there martyrs were prominently displayed at the venue and a large number of Sikhs from the TriState area of New Jersey and Connecticut had come to attend the evenings kirtan darbar. It started with a recitation of ‘Rehras’ the evening prayer by Bhai Pritam Singh Chani the head granthi. It was followed by kirtan by the Akhand Kirtani Jatha of N.J. after which local children performed the kirtan.
Bhai Didar Singh of Delhi and jatha of Bhai Bawa Singh were amongst the main kirtainas of the day though the kirtan by Bhai Pargat Singh, the new General Secretary of the Sikh Cultural Society, Richmond Hill, N.Y., was appreciated by the sangat.
Kirtan by the jatha of Bhai Gurmail Singh, a hazuri ragi of the Golden Temple in Amritsar was the highlight of the evening and was followed by the Ardas.
