DURBAN: Kim Hughes former Australian cricket captain who led two rebel tours to South Africa said he will play here for the next two seasons as captain of the Natal province team.

Hughes said at a news conference that he will return to Australia to wrap up personal affairs and then move to South Africa with his family in September.

Hughes was captain of Australian squads that toured South Africa in 1985-86 with

out the authorization of Australian cricket officials. Most national cricket federations, like governing bodies of many other sports discourage contacts with South Africa as part of a widespread sports boycott imposed to protest apartheid.

At the conclusion of the first tour, Hughes described his team as “ambassadors for sport and ambassadors for humanity.”
