DELANO: A 25yearold man was sentenced to life imprisonment for the April 7 kidnaping of a seven-year-old girl from her Delano home.

The accused, Rajinder Singh Jhanjaar, was sentenced October 3 to life in prison with the possibility of parole after about eight years, deputy attorney Gary Witt said here. Jhanjaar’s two accomplices, Warren Hugh Fen ton (21) and Joseph Frye (17) pleaded guilty to charges of kidnaping for ransom and conspiring to kidnap for ransom, Witt said.

According to the Delano police, Jaspreet daughter of Dr. Gursha tan Saini and Dr. Hardip Saini, was abducted from her home April 7 by the three men, who wore masks. One of the kidnapers fired a warning shot from his handgun.

The three left a ransom note. The police maintained a vigil at the spot where the kidnapers were to come to pick up the money Vasco, about 20 miles from Delano. The kidnapers then dropped off Jaspreet in an open field and sped off with the money.

The girl was returned safely to her family the same evening. All three men were arrested the same day-Fenton and Frye at their home in Bakersfield, and Jhanjaar on a road outside of Bakersfield in his Pickup truck Witt said.

It may be noted that Dr. Gur sharan and Dr. Mrs Hardip Saini are dedicated to the cause of Sikh Panth.
