SRI HARGOBINDPUR (GURDASPUR): The “Khalsa” March, organized for the welfare of humanity and social reconstruction and which began amidst much pomp and show from the Gurdwara Damdama Sahib here, brought the leaders of all major factions of the Akali Dal on one platform. Among those who participated in the three-day march taken out in connection with the tri-centenary celebrations of the establishment of the “Khalsa” (the pure) were Akali Dal (Badal) president Parkash Singh Badal, Shriomani Gurdwara Parbandhak Commit- tee (SGPC) chief Gurcharan Singh Tohra and Akali Dal (Kabul) leader and former Chief Minister Surjit Singh Barnala Akali Dal (Talwandi) president Jagdev Singh Talwandi, Akali Dal (Mann) general secretaries Sucha Singh Chhotepur and Ram Singh and Akali Dal (Manjit) secretary general Sarabjit Singh Sohal.
The march led by Akal Takht jathedar Manjit Singh would culminate at Takht Sri Damdama Sahib (Bhatinda) on April 12.
Taruna Dal chief Ajit Singh Poohla, a controversial figure among Sikhs, was also present on the dias when the ardas was being performed before the start of the march.
Poohla is currently performing “kar seva” at the Damdama Sahib here.
