TORONTO: The only Khalistani T.Y. program in the Metropolitan Toronto area “Ankhila Punjab” was started by Sukhminder Singh Hansra (Billy Hansra) in April 1993.
This is a weekly program of 1/2 hour seen throughout Canada on Vision TV; Ankhila Punjab is a pro Sikh and a pro Khalistan program. Ever since its inception, the Indian high commission has been trying to stop it by fair or unfair means. The program was to come to an end in Nov. 93 because of financial difficulties. However, Billu Hansra went before the Sikhs in Canada and made a passionate appeal to them that either someone else should take control, if they could do a better job, or the Sikhs should give him financial backing. As a result, Sikh gurdwaras from Edmonton and Malton, the Entane Khalsa Darbar, Surrey Gurdwara and Khalsa Diwan Society in Vancouver have committed themselves to finance Aukhila Punjab. Billu Hansra now feels confident he will be able to complete his work, Sikh’s allover Canada feel relieved that this program will continue without break.
World Sikh News also appeals to the Canadian Sikhs to support Aukhila Punjab whole heartedly and hope someday this program will also be seen in the U.S.
